The Adventure of Figaro Pho – A Frightful Success Story

Melbourne, March 18 2013 – 2013 has been a great year for The Adventures of Figaro Pho.  The high quality CGI animated series will soon be seen in over 80 countries worldwide, thanks to new sales to Canal+, HBO Czech, BBC Kids Canada & Cartoon Network South and Latin America.  With DVD deals also rolling out in Australia and in selected territories across Europe, audiences will be able to have a frightfully hilarious experience at home in High Definition.

It’s been an exciting six months for The Adventures of Figaro Pho, since its Halloween launch on ABC3 in Australia. After winning The Australian Academy Award (AACTA) for Best Children’s Television Series, the show won two Kidscreen Awards in New York, for Best Animation and Best Design. This week The Adventures of Figaro Pho received a TVWeek Logie Nomination for Outstanding Children’s programming.

Today, series co-producer Chocolate Liberation Front, announces the release of Figaro Pho: Creatures & Critters a touch screen game that is available for iPhone and iPad on iTunes and for Android devices in the Google Play store. Created in house by CLF, the game offers 42 fun and freaky levels.

This is the first of three Figaro Pho touch screen action puzzle games set to roll onto the market in 2013.  Distributed by ABC Commercial, this action puzzle game is suitable for the broad casual gamer market.

Executive Producer Frank Verheggen says: “We are humbled by the critical acclaim the show has received, and thrilled that shortly a large global audience will see the program.  Figaro Pho Critters & Creatures and the other two follow up games are part of a broad strategy to meet the needs of the audience on a variety of platforms.  We believe Figaro has a really bright future ahead!”

The Adventures of Figaro Pho is the brainchild of creator and director Luke Jurevicius, co-produced by Chocolate Liberation Front and Ambience Entertainment. The series follows the adventures of a character that has every phobia from A to Z. The series was produced with funding support from Screen Australia, ABC, Omnilab, South Australian Film Commission, Screen New South Wales and Film Victoria.

Chocolate Liberation Front is an entertainment company focused on fun, smart and high quality properties across many platforms. CLF was a recipient of Screen Australia Enterprise Funding, which has allowed the company to develop a slate of new projects for the international market place. CLF will be looking for the right partnerships to help deliver exceptional quality content across platforms.

CLF’s Dan Fill adds: “I’m really excited about our next project ‘Fantastic Forest’, a 52 x 11 min preschool series.  It draws on the skills of many of the creative talent behind The Adventures of Figaro Pho offering a series of lush colourful backgrounds and characters.  It’s funny, endearing and delightful. We hope it finds some good homes at the upcoming Mip TV festival where anyone interested can meet with our Canadian partner CCI Entertainment to discuss pre-sales.”

The Figaro Pho Creatures & Critters game is available in iTunes and the Google Play store.

Acquisitions of The Adventures of Figaro Pho Season 1 and presale interest for season 2 can be arranged through ABC Commercial, ZDF Enterprises and Distribution 360.
